Through Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1377 of 2013, the constitutional right that all people have to know, delete, update and rectify all types of personal data collected, stored or that have been subject to treatment in databases is developed. of data in public and private entities.
The Constitutional Court defined it as the right that gives the power to the owner of personal data to demand access, inclusion, exclusion, correction, addition, updating and certification of the data from the administrators of said data, as well as the limitation of the possibilities of its disclosure, publication or transfer, in accordance with the principles that regulate the personal data management process. Likewise, it has indicated that this right has an autonomous nature that differentiates it from other guarantees with which it is in permanent relationship, such as the rights to privacy and information.
In response to the aforementioned Law, the National Registry of Databases - RNBD was established, which is a public directory of databases with personal information subject to treatment that operate in the country, in accordance with the provisions of Law 1581 of 2012.
